An optical information recording/reproducing apparatus which calibrates power of a recording laser beam which is emitted to an optical disk. A recording laser power level is detected from reproduced waveforms of a recorded calibration signal to allow the user to determine the necessity of maintenance for an optical pickup and so on and to previously prevent optical disks deviated from the standard from being produced. A determination unit is provided for determining that recording laser power presents an optimal value when the recording laser power lies within a predetermined range, and zero is indicated by a voltage at the center of the amplitude of a reproduced signal which has been recorded with the recording laser power. An alarm is also provided for alarming when no optimal value is determined for the recording laser power upon reproduction. <IMAGE>
