The invention relates to a novel use of mono-, di- and trisaccharides and of their alkylglucosides (alkyl glucosides) in which the alkyl group has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in the solid state, as chiral supports (substrates) for chemical reactions. It also relates to chemical processes using a solid support consisting of mono-, di- or trisaccharides or of their alkylglucosides in which the alkyl group has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
