摘要 The invention relates to a procedure and a device for contactless checking of the surface roughness of materials (1) with regard to deviations from a prescribed desired surface roughness. In order to ensure that checking of the surface roughness of a multiplicity of different materials (1) is as reproducible as possible, it is proposed to use the measured intensity values, which are a function of position, in conjunction with Fourier transformation to determine the spatial frequency spectrum assigned to these values, and then to analyse the characteristic spectral components in the spatial frequency spectrum which are caused by the roughness of the material (1) and to compare them with the prescribed values of the spatial frequency spectrum. The procedure according to the invention is suited with particular advantage to assessing the grain depth of genuine or imitation leather and to monitoring the pore size of foamed plastic and of emery paper. <IMAGE>
