PURPOSE: To comparatively inexpensively and easily assemble a three plane universal coupling by constantly positioning a plurality of balls concerning a shoe so as to certainly use the maximum allowable rolling movement. CONSTITUTION: This three plane universal coupling is constituted of an outer coupling member having three chambers in the longitudinal direction and an inner coupling member 32 arranged between side wall in the longitudinal direction arranged facing against each other in the inside of the respective chambers and having three projected trunnions respectively having partial spherical surfaces. Additionally, the inner coupling member 32 is furnished with a plural number of roller bearings having support surfaces to be engaged rolling with the side wall in the longitudinal direction of the outer coupling member, a plural number of shoes 64 having partial spherical surfaces to be engaged with the partial spherical surfaces of the trunnions and partial cylindrical grooves 68 to be engaged with the roller bearings on other surfaces and a plural number of positioning springs having an elastic means devised to generate force to reposition a roller at a specified position by being bent during movement in the longitudinal direction of the roller bearings against the shoes as well as positioning the roller bearing at specified positions.
