PURPOSE:To obtain a herbicide for paddy rice plant having excellent herbicidal effect and remarkably decreased phytotoxicity such as the inhibition of the growth of the root of rice by compounding a sulfonylurea compound with an (S)-1-(alpha-methylbenzyl)-3-phenylurea compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective herbicide is produced by compounding (A) a sulfonylurea compound such as methyl 2-[3-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl) ureidosulfonylmethyl]benzoate or 3-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-1-[2-(2- methoxyethoxy)-phenylsulfonyl]urea with (B) a compound of formula (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl, halogen or H), e.g. (S)-1-(alpha-methylbenzyl)-3-(p-tolyl)urea at a weight ratio (A:B) of 1:(10-250), preferably 1:(10-200). The application rates of the component A and the component B are preferably 1-5g and 0.3-2,000g per 10 are, respectively. |
