A lifting and tilting device, e.g. for emptying a refuse bin, comprises a static frame (1), within which slides a moving frame (2) within which slides a carriage (3, Fig 4, not shown). The carriage is, in use, propelled upwardly by a hydraulic ram (4) and chain arrangement. Rotatably mounted to the carriage (3) is a sub frame (7) adapted to hold a container, e.g. a refuse bin. The sub frame is restrained from rotating until it reaches a cam (22) on static frame which causes it to rotate as it is propelled upwards. A pivot member (23) on one side of the static frame cooperates with an upwardly extending guide member (18) on the sub frame to control the extent of rotation. <IMAGE> |
