PURPOSE:To print while keeping a paper face constant and holding a constant distance from the paper face, by holding the paper with pressure between a paper guide and a platen and pressing the platen by a pressing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 8 is depressed by a finger 7, an electric signal is supplied and a solenoid 9 is attracted. The solenoid 9 is fixed to a side beam. When the solenoid 9 is attracted, a link 11 is pulled and projects, at a fulcrum of a pin 10, a member 12 having the thickness corresponding to the amount of the abrasion of a wire of a print head 1 towards a platen 6 from a notch formed in a rear paper guide 14. The member 12 is inserted between a paper guide 3 and the platen 6. Although a predetermined pattern of characters is to be printed on a paper 13, the platen 6 inclines to be separated from the print head 1 by the member 12 by the amount, of the abrasion of the wire, and therefore, the paper 13 alike is separated from the print head 1. The omission, lack of dots at this time is checked, thereby to confirm the life of the print head 1. |
