PURPOSE:To prevent electric power from being consumed wastefully during error generation by shutting off a power supply automatically after the lapse of a specified time, if a printing device functions abnormally. CONSTITUTION:If an error generation is detected at a printing device (step S1), an error message is indicated on an operating panel (step S2), and at the same time, a timer in which a specified time is set is activated. Then time continues to be counted by the timer until the device is recovered from the error, and a power supply for the printing device is turned OFF, if the time is up on the timer (steps S4, S5, S6). If the error recovery is executed prior to the timeout of the timer, this protocol is ended at step S4 and the power supply of the printing device is kept turned ON. |
