PURPOSE:To prepare a private KANJI (Chinese character) dictionary for which the object of merger is only a highly frequently used KANJI notation at the time of merging dictionaries for efficiently performing the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI conversion of a Japanese document preparing device. CONSTITUTION:In an applied KANJI dictionary 6 stored with the KANJI notation of a specific special field, an used number column for storing the cumulative number of times of being selected other than the KANJI notation and reading and a KANJI notation number table for respective number of the times of being used are provided and at the time of being used independently, they are registered and updated by a dictionary display control part 3. At the time of performing dictionary merger, a dictionary merger control part 4 outputs the dictionary data of a basic KANJI dictionary 5 to a private KANJI dictionary 7, then reads the KANJI notation number table for the respective number of the times of being used of the applied KANJI dictionary 6 in a data register 41 and stores the value of the number of the times of being used for which the number of the KANJI notation is the largest in the data register 43. The dictionary data are sucessively read from the applied KANJI dictionary 6 to the data register 41, the number of the times of being used and the value of the data register 43 are compared at an used number detection part 42 and only when the former is more than the latter, the KANJI notation is outputted to the private KANJI dictionary 7 and is merged. |
