DEVICE FOR SELECTING MENU ITEM

PURPOSE:To enable a user to quickly recognize an item which should not be selected by the user at the time of selecting a menu item by a computer having a visual user interface. CONSTITUTION:A mouse cursor indicates the position of a mouse 7 displayed on a display 8 by a mouse cursor display part 2. The current position of the mouse cursor is obtained from a mouse cursor position acquiring part 1 and the position of a selection inhibiting item area from a menu item selection acquiring part 5. A selection preventing area invasion judging part 4 judges whether the mouse cursor invades the inhibition area or not to reset the position of the mouse cursor. When the position of the mouse cursor is not included in the selection inhibiting item area, a mouse cursor position storing part 6 stores the current position of the mouse cursor.
