The input current (Ieo) is fed to a primary stage (E0) which generates an output (G5) indicating the sign of the current. A current convertor circuit generates an output current for input to the next stage (E1). If the input current (Ieo) is negative then the current convertor transmits the absolute value of the input current. N subsequent stages (E1-E5) in series generate output bits (G4-G0) representing the Gray code for the analog input current. USE/ADVANTAGE - Analog to digital conversion for video signal processing. Adequate speed but reduced complexity over existing designs.
