PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized stable short wavelength light source of high efficiency which is required for high density recording on an optical disk, image processing, etc., and a wavelength variable short wavelength light source which is required for a measuring light source and the like. CONSTITUTION:By combining a semiconductor laser 101, a polarization inversion type bulk element 102 and a diffraction grating 103, a stable short wavelength laser light such as blue and green can be obtained. By constituting the period of a polarization inversion layer as division structure or chirp structure, and changing the angle of the diffraction grating, a frequency variable small-sized short wavelength light source with high efficiency can be realized. |
