PURPOSE:To reduce the recording capacity for travel routes and properly guide a vehicle travel by detecting the vehicle traveling by a previously set certain distance in advance, picking up an image of the area in front of the vehicle, and detecting the position and travel direction of the vehicle at this time. CONSTITUTION:The area in front of the vehicle at the time of the vehicle travel on a route from a starting point to a destination is photographed by a video camera 1 at intervals of a constant vehicle travel distance partially corresponding to passing target points, and the picked-up image is recorded in an image recording and reproduction part 2 to generate guidance information.
