PURPOSE: To execute preliminary processing of an initial image so as to enable to operate easily and quickly, when problems of convergence is evaded and the most interesting data to be transmitted or stored is selected. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with (1) a means 101 which, after calculating a difference in luminance between a current image and at least one preceeding image, compares the difference with a threshold value and decides a silhouette by forming a binary image corresponding to a background and a useful zone of the image according to a value of the difference regarding the threshold value, (2) means 102, 103 and 104 which suppress arbitrary irregularity affecting the useful zone and (3) means 105 and 106 which reproduce a segmented image formed with a pattern and a uniform background extracted by the means from 101 to 104 from the original image. |
