Appts. comprises an ultrasonic generator (3) and an ultrasonic welding unit (1). The welding unit (1) has a welding tool (9) with a converter (10) and a welding horn (11). Sensor (15) measure the temp. at the welding point (14) and/or at the point (16) of the horn (11). Temp. readings are fed to a control unit (2) governing the ultrasonic generator (3) and/or a guiding unit for the welding tool (9). Ultrasonic welding process is claimed in which temp. readings fed to the control unit (2) are converted into control signals which govern the operational welding parameters for the horn (11) or the device guiding the components under the welding point. USE - Used for ultrasonic welding of components in varoius metal sand esp. thermoplastic materials. Quality variation of the welds is reduced.
