The pneumatic switch valve is arranged in a gas conduit between an air source and the exhaust gas pipe, controlling the throughput cross-section in the valve area. The positioning component of the switch valve is activated by the suction pressure of the engine and, on shutting off, closes under a spring force. The positioning component (7) is activated in the closing phases of the exhaust gas pressure. Pressure change-over occurs via an electromagnet valve (11) with three connections. Downstream from the valve area (4) in the direction of the switch valve blocking flap valves are arranged. The electromagnet valve (11) is controlled from an electronic control appts. dependent upon the operating parameters of the internal combustion engine. ADVANTAGE - Valve is sealed even at high exhaust gas pressure.
