The switch unit (10) has a housing (12) which encloses at least one switch contact set (18) operated via a manual operating element (16) with a sliding or pivoted lever (20) which can move into a locked position in which the operation of the switch contacts is blocked. Pref. the lever provides mechanical blocking of the switch contacts, or at least one of the contacts is carried by the lever, so that it is displaced to move it away from the counter-contact position. USE/ADVANTAGE - For electrically operated vehicle electric window drives, sun roofs, venetian blinds etc. providing safety function.
