On an automatic yarn winding machine there is a transport system to deliver cops to be crosswound on a reel. The cops are held on support plates in transit, and pass through a yarn end release mechanism, in preparation for the take-up mechanism on the winder. In order to prevent the air pressure from the release mechanism affecting the cop in proximity a screen is attached to the yarn end release mechanism, in the direction of the following cop. The cops are forwarded to the winder on a conveyor. They are supported on cop plates (1), with a central vertical short spindle, and they pass along in close proximity to each other. ADVANTAGE - The yarn end is placed in a position on the cop where it can be readily released to the winder mechanism. The screen prevents this being disturbed on the cop in close proximity.
