The valve consists of a central armature and valve assembly (2) with a surrounding coil assembly (3). The central assembly (2) has a stepped valve body (4) which fits into a corresponding bore (101) of the aluminium housing (1). Retaining the valve body and sealing off the high pressure fluid side from the atmospheric side of the valve are two caulked joints, one (A) part way down the body and the other (B) at the mouth of the bore. To produce the first joint (A) the body of the tested valve is forced into the housing, causing the corner of abutment surface to squeeze out and fill the undercut. The second joint (B) is similarly formed by a punch acting on the mouth of the bore (101). USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact, lightweight and low-cost design of solenoid valve for vehicle anti-locking braking system. Effective sealing and minimal fluid usage.
