PURPOSE:To reduce size and cost by juxtaposing rod lenses along the end face of a glass block provided with an interference film filter, providing many stages thereof and juxtaposing the rod lenses on the opposite end side of such blocks. CONSTITUTION:This optical multiplexer and demultiplexer is constituted by expanding the length (l) thereof so that n-pieces of the rod lenses 4-7 can be juxtaposed. The interference film filters 11, 12, 13 (14, 15) are formed into a stripe shape to the length (l) to the glass block 9 (11). The glass blocks 9, 11 which are formed successively with the interference film filters corresponding to n-terminal equipments into the stripe shape can be used as they are without cutting the same. The mere juxtaposition of n-pieces each of the lenses 4, 5, 6, 7 to the array shape within the length (l) is equally satisfactory. Semiconductor light emitting elements, photodetectors and optical fibers may also be juxtaposed into the array shape in the same manner. The simple and small-sized construction which is constituted integrally with the optical multiplexer and demultiplexers corresponding to the n-terminal equipment and permits the constitution of the respective parts to the regular array-shaped arrangement is thus obtd. |
