PURPOSE:To obtain a cigarette filter comprising a carbon sintered compact produced by firing a form consisting mainly of cellulose and having many penetrating holes. CONSTITUTION:A form 1 consisting mainly of cellulose and having many penetrating holes 31 is impregnated with phenolic resin as a thermosetting resin followed by firing in a neutral or reductive, non-oxidative gas atmosphere. Specifically, each of the penetrating holes is 5-300mum in mean diameter and >=50m<2>/g in specific surface area.
