PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus for correcting the direction of a take-up plate made of a photosensitive polymer or a printing plate of various different materials so as to obtain an accurate position and an accurate register to mount the same on the outer peripheral surfaces of a plurality of plate cylinders for partial colors even in the case of only once use and in the case of use of a plurality of times and to enhance the repeated accuracy of positioning in the plate cylinders. CONSTITUTION: The rear surface side of a flexible printing plate 63 is sucked between two suction arms 54, 56 of a suction fork 49 to hold the printing plate in a flat surface state and subsequently adjusted with respect to the transparent master plate positioned within a register screen in an accurate register and positioned in front of the plate cylinder in the adjusted state under the support of a computer and next moved to adhesion positions III, IV in a tangential direction so as to obtain an accurate position and an accurate register to be temporarily bonded to the plate cylinder before perfectly bonded thereto.
