PURPOSE:To obtain an on-vehicle navigating apparatus having voice recognition means which can control units by voice. CONSTITUTION:The on-vehicle navigating apparatus comprises a voice recognition unit 6 as means for controlling units to control units by a voice command. Thus, a driver can concentrate driving a vehicle without paying attention to his operation of the apparatus. Standard characteristic amount pattern of voice to be recognized is stored in both a voice recognition dictionary 21 of the unit 6 and an external memory 31. Commands for controlling a navigating system itself and a control sentence, etc., are stored in the recognition unit, and words, sentences for indicating information regarding map information are stored in the external memory. |
