PURPOSE:To obtain, from electric signal, an image having continuous gradation, high density and transparency which does not fade for a long time by superposing a thermal transfer layer of a thermal transfer sheet and an accepting layer of a sheet to be transferred thermally, and supplying heat energy dependent on image signal from a support body of the sheet to be transferred. CONSTITUTION:A sheet to be transferred thermally 1 is constituted of a base material 2 having an accepting layer 3 arranged thereon. The accepting layer 3 is constituted of a first area 4 and a second area 5, made of synthetic resin having polar group. The first area accepts a dye migrating from a thermal transfer sheet mainly at heating and the second area prevents the dye accepted at the first area from diffusing to other parts. A typical thermal transfer sheet 6 is constituted of a thermal transfer layer 8 provided on one face of a support body 7. The thermal transfer layer 8 of the thermal transfer sheet 6 and the accepting layer 3 of the sheet to be transferred 1 are superposed face-to-face and heat energy dependent on image information is supplied to the interface of the thermal transfer layer 8 and the accepting layer 3 so as to make a color material in the layer 8 migrate to the layer 3. |
