PURPOSE:To provide a new thiazole derivative capable of inhibiting release of active oxygen from neutrophiles, or having such activity as to eliminate active oxygen species. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula 1 [R<1> is (1 to 3 alkoxy- substituted) phenyl; R<2> is (substituted) pyridylcarbonyl, 1 to 3 N, O or S-bearing 5 to 15-membered monocyclic, bicyclic or tricyclic heterocycle residue, or of formula 4 (R<3> is carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, OH-substituted alkyl, alkoxy, OH, H, etc.; R<4> is H, alkenyl or alkyl; R<5> is aminoalkoxycarbonyl, aminoalkoxysubstituted alkyl, aminoalkoxy, alkoxy, phenylsulfonyloxy, etc.)] and a salt thereof, e.g. 2-(3,4-diethoxyphenyl)-4-(5-hydroxy-6-ethoxycarbonyl-2- pyridyl)thiazole. The compound of the formula 1 can be obtained by reaction of a compound of formula 2 with a compound of formula 3 in an appropriate solvent. |
