<p>PURPOSE: To mount a cover on a flush valve which is operated by detecting the presence of a human being by a beam in an infrared spectrum. CONSTITUTION: A flush valve includes a body 10 having an inlet 12 and an outlet 14. The body 10 has an inner cover 26 mounted thereon and, with portions 24 of the flush valve, defines a chamber 30 which is in communication with the flush valve inlet 12. A sensor for detecting the presence of an object adjacent to the flush valve and an electrical circuit for causing operation of the flush valve are mounted on the inner cover 26. There is an outer cover 60 which encloses the inner cover 26, the sensor, and the electrical circuit. The outer cover 60 is formed of a plastic which will transmit radiation from the sensor. The inner and outer covers 26, 60 have interfitting lugs which restrict relative rotation therebetween, and are mounted on the valve body 10 through the use of a locking ring 62 which applies a load only to the inner cover 26.</p> |
