PURPOSE:To provide a constant speed travel device by which overdrive control matching to a sense of a human being becomes possible without causing a sense of incompatibility. CONSTITUTION:Acceleration (alpha) is found (S123) from actual vehicle speed, and subtraction is carried out between target vehicle speed and the actual vehicle speed, and operation is carried out (S124) on speed deviation. When a gear position is in the third speed, a throttle opening reference value according to the gear position is found (S127), and a throttle opening correcting value is found (S128) by means of the acceleration (alpha), and a throttle opening processing value corresponding to an engine load is calculated (S129) by means of these values and present throttle opening TPS. Next, fuzzy inference is carried out (S131) on a shift operation judging value while using the engine load DELTATPS3 and the speed deviation obtained by processing as input parameters. A judging value obtained by means of the fuzzy inference is compared with an identification reference value, and when being identified to be shifted up, a shift-up signal is outputted according to the comparison result, and shift operation is carried out (S133).
