Date Aug. 23, 1990.The present invention relates to a novel triazine derivative represented by the general formula (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (I) in the formula, A denotes (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (in which Y1 denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and Z denotes an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom), (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (in which Y2 and Y3, which can be of the same kind or different kinds, each denote a methyl group or a methoxy group) or (* CHEMICAL STRUCTURE *) (in which Y4 denotes a methyl group, trifluoromethyl group, methoxy group or fluorine atom and n denotes an integer of 0 ro 2), X1 denotes a halogen atom and R1 denotes hydrogen, a methyl group or an ethyl group as well as a herbicide containing the triazine derivative represented by the general formula (I) as an effective ingredient.
