PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC FLUID

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic fluid having a markedly reduced viscosity and a greatly extended life by causing fine ferrite particles to adsorb a higher fatty acid salt and then dispersing the particles in a base oil having a low vapor pressure using a phosphoric ester-based dispersant. CONSTITUTION:Fine magnetite particles with sodium oleate adsorbed thereonto are subjected to deflocculation treament in a toluene soln. and then to flocculation treatment with acetone. The treated particles are used in the process for producing a magnetic fluid wherein fine ferrite particles with a higher fatty acid salt adsorbed thereonto are dispersed in a phosphoric triester-based base oil having a low vapor pressure using as a dispersant a phosphoric ester having a mono- or dioxyalkylene group.
