The invention relates to a vertically opening and closing folding door which comprises two panels which can be moved between a position in which they are extended with respect to one another and a folded-together position. According to the invention, the door panels are extended and folded by means of at least one double-acting hydraulic piston-cylinder device which is attached to the surface of the door.
