PRODUCTION OF ROLL WITH ELASTIC SKIN

PURPOSE: To produce a roll having an elastic skin capable of withstanding high load and not generating the adhesion of a mark in spite of this. CONSTITUTION: When an elastic skin 5 is formed to a core 2 made of steel, the skin 5 is constituted of a large number of annular discs 6 containing a fiber material and a plastic material. The annular discs are brought to a mutual close contact state in the direction of the core to be pressed without substantially heating the plastic material and the crosslinking of the plastic material is subsequently advanced within an aging time of at least two days. By this constitution, the adjacent annular discs 6 become the uniform skin 5 by crosslinking and the skin develops sufficient hardness and elasticity even under high load.
