PURPOSE:To enable satisfactory lockup control to be carried out by preventing generation of engine stall at the locking time of wheels, and improving durability of a lockup clutch and fuel consumption performance. CONSTITUTION:A lockup control device for automatic transmission is provided with a lockup clutch (a) of the automatic transmission and a controller (c) which controls the lockup and lockup releasing operation of the lockup clutch (a). In this device a braking operation condition detecting means (d) which detects an operating amount of a braking pedal is provided as an input means (b). The lockup releasing control is carried out by the controller (c) based on either a braking pedal operating amount or operating speed both of which are obtained from an input signal from the braking operation condition detecting means (d). |
