The plates are joined together by links (3) so that two end positions are resulted after movement of the plates relative to the links. This results in one end position being where all the plates run parallel to each other and the other end position is where the plates are expanded into a flat surface (1) with legs (2). The links are in the form of hinges. There may be another plate between the two top forming plates and this is used as a handle. ADVANTAGE - Can be assembled and/or dismantled by one hand, the surface is capable of carrying a load and can be used as either a seat or a table.
