Method of forming a filter bed, characterized in that immediately after the filter is filled with bed of various granulation, water is introduced in reverse direction through gaps to chambers created between consecutive segments of the filter, filled partially with the bed material, and the stream of water is put into rotary motion in each chamber and fills the chambers completely with the bed material, with the segregation of material preserved, whereas the largest particles are situated in vicinity of the gaps, whereas the smallest particles are removed from the chambers and moved to a further part of the bed.2. Annular filter comprising segments situated one on another, characterized in that each segment (1) has a bottom surface (2) of small diameter and a top surface (3) of large diameter, and the outer edges of the top surface (3) of large diameter and of the bottom surface (2) of small diameter are joined by means of a wall (4) in such a manner that between consecutive segments (1) chambers (5) are created which extend to the outside of the filter.<IMAGE>
