1. Method of obtaining linear polycarbosilanes of the formula Y-[(CH2)m-Si(Me)2]n-X where Me stands for the CH3 group, Y stands for a hydrogen atom or a trimethylsilyl group, X stands for a chlorine atom, an OR or NHR group where R stands for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or silyl group substituted with alkyl groups, m = 1 or 3 and n - 10-250, by means of polymerization of silaalkanes in the presence of a catalyst, characterized in that a cyclic four-member silaalkane is subject to polymerization in a temperature between 50 and 110 degrees C, in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group including PtO2, Pd/C or (C5H5)2M where M stands for a transition metal from group 5B, 6B, 7B or 8, with the molar proportion of the catalyst to the monomer ranging from 2x10<-2> to 7x10<-4>, and after the process is finished, a small molecule compound of the formula XY is optionally added, where X and Y have the meanings specified above, and the compound is preferably selected from a group including chlorosilanes, alkoxysilanes, hydrosilanes, oxosilanes or silazanes.
