PURPOSE:To provide a projection liquid crystal display which reduces the load of an electric circuit and can provide display having good gradients without increasing costs. CONSTITUTION:In a projection display device which uses as a light source LS a metal halide lamp whose green luminous band emits a large quantity of light, an Al thin film is vapor-deposited on a base and two thin films of dielectric substance are stacked thereon so that the reflectance of a total reflection mirror T11 for curving an optical path for blue light S3 is higher than when the mirror has only the Al thin film thereon. A total reflection mirror T12 for curving an optical path for green light S2 has its reflectance in a green luminous band reduced by forming an Al thin film 200nm thick on a glass base, and vapor depositing two thin films of dielectric substances, SiO2 and TiO2, into predetermined thicknesses; then the chromaticity coordinate of white and gradient display are improved. |
