PURPOSE: To provide a cam operation type electric connector assembly capable of being miniaturized and free of coming-off from engagement even if an external force is applied. CONSTITUTION: A first housing 4' is provided with a recess part 40 so as to able to house a second housing 6'. A cam protrusion 80 is formed at a position close to an engagement face of a side wall of the second housing 6'. A cam operation part 8' has a pair of parallel arms 60' extending from a web 58 thereof, and a cam slot 82 is formed for such each arm 60'. In connector assembling, the operation part 8' is inserted into a recess part 40 of the first housing 4' at first, and a cam protrusion 80 is aligned with an inlet part of a cam slot 82 of the cam operation member 8', and is pushed into a recess part 40 of the first housing. Finally, assembling is completed by pushing the cam operation member 8' into the recess part 40 in lengthwise direction thereof. The second housing 6' can be separated from the first housing 4' by following a reverse step.
