<p>PURPOSE:To make possible the measurement of a geometric shape without suspending joy stick operation by comparing a measured value of a taken-in object to be measured with a shape error of a previously input geometric shape and recognizing an optimum geometric shape anew. CONSTITUTION:An object to be measured 48 is measured and the measured value and the direction of a probe 36 are taken in a data taking-in part 42. Next, data number of the measured value taken in the data taking-in part 42, for instance, in the case of plurality, within a geometric shape calculation part 44 calculation based on various shapes is performed and its value can be stored. Next, a geometric shape recognition part 46 serves to compare respective shape errors stored in a geometric shape calculation part 44 and recognize the minimum shape error as an optimum geometric shape.
