<p>PURPOSE:To provide high precision tracking using only helical tracks to be scanned by a helical scan system. CONSTITUTION:Tracking signal recording areas 2 and 3 for recording a specified servo pattern are provided prior to data tracks 7 and 8 for recording data on a recording tape 1 to be scanned by the helical scan system. Two data recording tracks and tracking signal recording areas are recorded respectively by their different azimuths. Then, at the time of reproducing, etc., the tracking signal recording areas 2 and 3 are regenerated by the helical scan system, and the tracking is carried out by using this regenerated timing.</p> |
