PURPOSE:To simultaneously generate two kinds of automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern sounds without varying the number of channels of a sound source LSI. CONSTITUTION:The automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern PS outputted from an automatic accompaniment sound generating circuit 1 is written endlessly in a memory 7 and when a rhythm pattern is switched, the storage contents of the memory 7 are read out and sounded for a certain time together with the newly selected automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern sound; and the automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern sound before the switching is gradually decreased in volume and the new automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern after the switching is gradually increased in volume to sound the two kinds of automatic rhythm accompaniment pattern sounds at the same time without adding any extra sound source circuit. Consequently, the automatic rhythm accompaniment patterns are prevented from abruptly being changed to make the smooth rhythm pattern switching smooth.
