<p>PURPOSE:To enable the development faithful to an original document, i.e., latent image while preventing the sticking of the carrier to an electrostatic latent image carrying member by orienting magnetic particles constituting the carrier and intensifying residual magnetization. CONSTITUTION:The average grain size of the carrier particles is 5 to 100mum and the bulk density is <=3.0g/cm<3>. The crystal particles constituting the carrier particles are planar or acicular magnetic particles which have three- dimensionally uniaxial shape anisotropy. The ratio of the major axis/minor axis thereof is larger than 1. The crystal particles are oriented at >=30%. The magnetic characteristics of the carrier are 30 to 150emu/cm<3> intensity sigma1000 of magnetization at 1000 oersted magnetic field and 25emu/cm<3> intensity (residual magnetization) of the magnetization at 0 oersted magnetic field. The coercive force is <300 oersted. Further, the magnetic characteristics of the carrier satisfy equation. In the equation, sigma300 denotes the intensity of the magnetization at 300 oersted.</p> |
