Image analysis device exhibiting an image reading cycle and comprising a reading device arranged so as to deliver digitised pixels sequentially line by line and including a first means for storing (n-1) lines, a second means for storing a sliding window comprising p pixels from each of n successive lines, a third means for sequentially processing the information from the sliding window in accordance with at least one criterion which is a weighting by luminous intensity. It includes a fourth means (BAR1) for sequentially storing for each completed image reading cycle the sliding window corresponding to the best result according to the said criterion, as well as fifth means (muP) for calculating a light spot barycentre.
