PURPOSE:To provide the character recognizing device which utilizes outline font data as a character pattern for reference. CONSTITUTION:A character size 7 is extracted from input character data 6 by a size extracting means 1 and based on this character size 7 extracted by the size extracting means 1, the character pattern and a character code 8 are read from outline font data 2 by a font generating means 3. Afterwards, the character pattern and character code 8 read by the font generating means 3 are compared with previously set pattern data 4 by a pattern comparing means 5, and character data 9 of the character pattern and character code with high similarity are outputted. |
