IONOGRAPHY-IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To provide a printed image having high resolution and high density by providing this system with an ionography image forming member of which the image forming layer has a specific thickness and specific dielectric constant and with which the value of the thickness/dielectric constant is a specific value. CONSTITUTION: The ionography image forming member includes a conductive layer (metallic drum) 67 and a uniform and continuous dielectric image forming layer 66 free from voids. The image forming layer 66 has the dielectric constant of about 1.5 to about 40 and at least about 45μm thickness. The value of the thickness/dielectric constant is about 30 to about 60. The inlet channel 52 of the upper casting 51 of a projection head 50 receives the low-pressure fluid (more preferably air) from a fluid filling chamber and sends this fluid to an ion generating cavity 54. This cavity 54 has a U-shaped section and its three flanks enclose a corona wire 56. A pair of the extension parts on both sides of a plane substrate 64 form a wiping shoe and ride on the outer edges of the image forming layer 66 supported on an electrically grounded metallic drum 67.
