PURPOSE:To reduce the pitch over the entire part of one picture element and to attain higher fineness without lowering the visual sensitivity of blue color by forming color filters for allowing transmission of green light to the area smaller than the area of color filters allowing transmission of blue light. CONSTITUTION:One picture element is constituted of the filter R for red transmission, the filter G for green transmission and the filter B for blue transmission. These filters R, G, B are formed to a rectangular shape as a whole and the respective R, G, B are arranged in a stripe shape. The G is formed to the area smaller than the area of the B. For example, the light transmittance of the color filters formed at 2.0mum thickness by a pigment dispersion method is such that the transmittance of the B is 60%, the transmittance of the G is 73% and the transmittance of the R is 90%. The area ratios of the color filters of the respective R, G, B are respectively required merely to be set at 3.4:2.1:4.5 in order for the respective colors to be recognized at the same ratios by taking the brightness of the respective colors of a back light and the transmittance of the color filters into consideration. |
