In the utilisation of residual material partic. old moulding sand (I), a binder is added to it so that (I) be used as an additive for cement prodn. in a rotary tube furnace. A binder medium is used which is heat resistant up to 400 deg.C. Pref. the binder medium is a plaster resulting from exhaust gas desulphurisation of combustion equipment fired with fuel contg. sulphur. The piece material is fed to the rotary tube furnace on the exhaust gas side. ADVANTAGE - Process is environmentally friendly.
