A prostane deriv. of formula (I) or (II) and their salts with bases if R1 = H, can be used to make a pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic polyarthritis X1 = CH2CH2, trans-CH=CH or C=C; X2 = opt. branched 1-6C satd. alkylene; X3 = O or CH2; X4 = CH2 or (CH2)3; X5 = H or C=CR2; R1 = H, 1-6C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl or Ph; R2 = opt. branched, opt. satd. 1-6C alkyl; R3 = H, 1-4C acyl or benzoyl; R4 = H or Me the OR3 can be a- or b-.
