摘要 In the ignition procedure for a gas discharge lamp containing a ballast resistor in the circuit, energy from the main power supply is initially stored in an inductor. Then a capacitor is charged up to a preset voltage. The capacitor and inductor are discharged at the same time, and the energy released is added and coupled into the ballast circuit so that for ignition, the total energy (capacitor, inductor and ballast) is available. The inductor is only partly discharged however. The energy coupling in the ballast circuit is achieved inductively. The storage and discharge of energy in the inductor and capacitor is done by switching of the respective circuits. ADVANTAGE- Simplified ignition procedure not requiring a boost capacitor or diode, with generation of HV from main power supply.
