The present invention relates to a method of automatic control of the control surfaces of an aircraft in order, at low speed, to compensate for a lateral deviation of the flight path, in which, beyond a defined threshold (20) of deflection of the deflected rudder control surface (17), a deflection is ordered, proportional to the threshold overshoot, of the wing surfaces (13, 14) of one of the two wings (18), this wing being that on the same side as the said deflected rudder control surface (17), in such a way as to apply an additional drag on this wing, and thus additional yaw on the aircraft. Application especially to the takeoff phase for large civil transport aircraft.

|
