A fluid flow control valve has a pair of electrostrictive or piezoelectric valve closure elements (30, 31), each being supported radially inwardly of its periphery and sealing against a peripheral seat (26, 27) to prevent fluid flow through the valve housing (2) from inlet (22) to outlet (23). Each closure element is actuable to allow displacement of its periphery in a direction opposite to the other, relative to the fluid flow path through the housing, to enable or disable fluid flow around at least a portion of the periphery and thus to control fluid flow through the housing. <IMAGE> |
